about
“Fragile Man” was written in early 2018 as a response to the political climate in the US and recorded in early 2020.
The meaning of the song has changed and morphed over time, especially in light of ongoing terrorism and violence against people of color, women, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and so many others.
I’m not here to coopt or profit off of anyone else’s pain. That was never my intent. With that in mind, all proceeds from “Fragile Man” will be donated to the following organizations:
Peter Cicchino Youth Project
Providing legal aid to LGBTQ+ homeless youth in NYC
Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo
Advocacy organization providing TransGNB people with legal, medical, and psychosocial assistance
Sex Workers Project
Legal and social services, as well as advocacy, for people who engage in sex work as well as survivors of human trafficking
You can find links to these amazing organizations (please consider donating!), as well as additional advocacy and support resources for POC and LGBTQIA+ communities, by following the link in my bio.
lyrics
You know I tried
But your wounded pride is not my fault
For every inch, I gave a mile
And yet you wonder why you still feel small
Make me fall on my knees, and pray for my dignity
Fragile Man, how can you stand on my neck
And pretend that you’re the one who’s hurtin’, you’re the one who’s hurtin’
Fragile Man, how can you stab me in the chest
Even when you know I don’t deserve it, oh
So what’s the use
Of all that I do to give you what you seek
Misery’s a clever ruse
A sad excuse to keep my company
Enough is enough, from your silver tongue
Fragile Man, how can you stand on my neck
And pretend that you’re the one who’s hurtin’, you’re the one who’s hurtin’
Fragile Man, how can you stab me in the chest
Even when you know I don’t deserve it, oh
Please grant me freedom
Why can’t we be even?
Leave this space between us
Oh please
Fragile Man, how can you stand on my neck
And pretend that you’re the one who’s hurtin’, you’re the one who’s hurtin’
Fragile Man, how can you stab me in the chest
Even when you know I don’t deserve it, oh
Fragile Man, how can you stand on my neck
And pretend that you’re the one who’s hurtin’, you’re the one who’s hurtin’
Fragile Man, how can you stab me in the chest
Even when you know I don’t deserve it, oh
